After 13 years of having our hands tied for various reasons, 101 is finally able to do what it set out to do and help Christians! Most people using our services do not know of the struggle that has gone on between us and forces that until recently have been beyond our control stopping us from improving our services.
As a result we have often had justifiable ‘complaints’ about how our services though pretty good and useful to Christians, never improve. That indeed has been the case as our main service; www.fusion101.com which in 2006 was in the top 2% busiest sites on the Internet has been held up. Since then whilst our membership has slowly grown as it always did, usage of the site and SEO rankings have dropped as we have been unable to tend to these issues.
After being promised by one development company that our service would disappear without trace should we decide to drop them we cut ties with them and held our breath and waited for everything to collapse (whist in the back of my mind I felt this couldn’t possibly happen as there was no increase in any site activity apart from the chat). Of course as I expected, apart from a slight blip for about three days when the chatters could not be online, nothing changed proving my point!
‘new platforms that were promised were never delivered and rather than let us get on and develop the service we were held down and unable to even access our own servers.
We we’re advised many years ago to ditch the people who were constantly billing but never delivering we somehow thought eventually we would get something useful. Until the penny dropped that this situation was going to go on forever. Accordingly we bent over backwards to offer a final ‘deal’ which was never accepted and so we were finally able to move on.
The amount of money spent on these services is hard for me to speak about but at least I can now access my own data and files and update them where I see fit. Look out for some interesting updates on our sites and services in the next few months!
